On April 20, 2024, the Addison County Solid Waste Management District hosted a Repair Fair at the American Legion in Middlebury.

A Repair Fair is a family-friendly, free event dedicated to building a culture of repair and sharing basic repair skills. The idea originated from "Repair Cafés," which were founded by Martine Postma of the Repair Café Foundation in Amsterdam.

ACSWMD united "fixer" volunteers skilled in various repair categories such as bike repair, mending, darning, sewing, jewelry repair, woodworking, appliance repair, and small electronics repair with folks in the local community.

The fixers worked diligently throughout the event and worked on a total of 135 items.

As the public waited to be matched with a fixer, they enjoyed refreshments and mingled at tables. Children could partake in either arts and crafts or a take-apart-table disassembling electronics.

ACSWMD appreciates everyone involved in this event and looks forward to future repair events!
